About Widex

Widex are a Danish company that were established in 1956. They have since merged with Sivantos in 2019 to become W/S audiology, the largest hearing aid manufacturer in the world. The two companies although joint in name will remain as Widex and Sivantos individually when producing products. Widex are a global player in the industry and are accessible in over 100 countries worldwide. Widex are unique in how they produce hearing aids. Its known throughout the industry as the 'Widex Sound'. The Widex Sound is usually described by wearers as a softer and most comfortable sound compared to other hearing aids from other manufacturers.

Widex also own High Street company Bloom Hearing Care Services. This means that if you have had a hearing assessment with Bloom its likely you have been offered a Widex product.

Widex Range of Products

Widex have an array of quality products on the market. We will try and break it down into the few key ones. The behind the ear models come in two styles. These are:

- Passion (The smallest behind the ear hearing aid in the Widex range)

- Fusion (Slightly larger but with extra features that do not come in the Passion model)

Moment

The Widex Moment is their latest product which was released in 2020. Claimed to be the first hearing aid to provide a truly natural 'non hearing aid' sound. It’s able to do by adapting the soundscape on the Moment platform. Giving a clear, natural sound it gives the user the felling of exquisite hearing without the hearing aid. It does this using features such as ZeroDelay Accelerator which reduces delay to under 0.5 milliseconds. That is fast! This means the sounds come together at the same time when hitting the ear drum, meaning the user hears the sound as it was intended, pure and natural. This is Widex Pure Sound.

The Moment is also Widex first full Li-ion rechargeable model, delivering a full 24-hour usage from a single charge including streaming. It is fully wireless and is bluetooth compatible for iOS devices. The Moment platform comes in a range of different options including behind the ear and in the ear to match any individual’s preference.

Evoke

Evoke was released by Widex in 2018 and was a world’s first for the industry. Widex created the first hearing aid with 'Machine Learning' in real time. Machine learning effectively creates a more natural sound which only gets better the longer it is used. The hearing aid learns from both user preference and wearer preference worldwide to create the ultimate listening experience. The data is used by Widex to support a continuously improving hearing aid as you wear it. A brilliant piece of kit from Widex here.

The hearing aid also offers other features that are revolutionising the way we hear including:

  • Organic Sound Reproduction

  • Automatic Sound Processing

  • Sound Class Technology

  • 'Made for iPhone' bluetooth Connectivity (Available only in the premium ranges)

The Evoke also can be adjusted to personal preference through the Widex smartphone app and comes in a range of different levels and styles to match the users personal style preference.

Beyond

The Beyond is on the Widex Unique platform, released in November 2016. It was the first hearing aid from Widex to contain 2.4 GHz bluetooth technology and 'Made for iPhone' We would recommend looking at the later versions in the Widex range such as the Evoke or Moment however the beyond is a solid hearing aid at a reasonable price point. The Beyond however, will provide a good quality of sound along with enhanced directionality for speech in noisy environments, giving the user better focus on speech and less listening effort on the brain. It also comes with Geotagging facilities within the Widex app, meaning that the user can save a preference within a certain environment and the hearing aids will automatically switch to that preference, should the user enter the same situation again.

Please bear in mind that for those users who prefer a more active outdoor lifestyle, where wind may be more prevalent, you would need to go for the top model in the Beyond range to take advantage of the wind suppression system. The other models do not have that facility in.
